Bladder Surge Tank

Please check with TVD engineer

The Bladder Surge Tank is a water hammer control device equipped with an inner bladder.

The preset pressure of the compressed air can push the water inside the bladder to the system when the pump is stopped, and the preset pressure needs to be calculated by water hammer calculation of the system and the pressure tank calculation.

The bladder can permanently isolate the water and air. Compare to the pressure tank without an inner tank, it eliminates the need for complex devices such as electrical energy, air compressor, pressure sensor that are essential for operation.

The damage to the pipeline system caused by water hammer is extremely serious, The increase in transient pressure can lead to pipeline cracks and even fractures. A significant drop in transient pressure can lead to cavitation, and in severe enough cases, it can cause pipeline compression deformation.

Product Advantages

Prefill with the appropriate compressed gas (air, nitrogen, or air mixture) according to the results of the liquid pressure analysis. The air fills the tank, and the bladder does not occupy the tank space
When the gate is opened, the static water will enter the bladder and begin to compress the air in the tank (the system static pressure is always greater than the preset pressure of the air).
The water will go further into the bladder and continue to compress the air until the liquid pressure and the compressed air pressure are balanced
When the pump suddenly stops working, the pressure in the pipe will drop, and the compressed air in the tank will quickly push the water in the bladder into the pipe, which will prevent the danger to pipes caused from low pressure of pipes
As the pressure in the tank continues to drop, the water in the system will flow back into the bladder. Several oscillations may occur before static state is reached
When the pump station starts up again, the water continues to enter the bladder and maintain a dynamic balance. it is then once again prepared for the next pump stop.
